An investigation has been launched after a van was deliberately set on fire near houses and other vehicles in Glasgow.
Officers were alerted to the blaze that happened to the vehicle parked in the Fingal Street area at around 5.45am on Thursday.
The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and no one was injured.
Following initial enquiries, the force is looking to trace the owner of a white Skoda Octavia that is believed to have been in the area at the time of the fire.
Police Scotland is urging anyone with information about the “reckless act” to come forward.
Detective Constable Fraser McGill said: “This was a reckless act and, although no one was injured, nearby vehicles and properties could have been damaged too.
“We are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch and for people to check private CCTV.
“Also, if you were driving in the area at the time please check dash-cams to see if you have captured something that could help with our investigation.
“Our enquiries so far suggest a white Skoda Octavia car was in the area at the time and we are eager to speak to the owner or anyone with knowledge of it.
“If you can assist please call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0448 of Thursday, January 2, 2025.”
