A US Navy nuclear submarine has arrived at Faslane for a scheduled visit.
USS Oregon docked at the River Clyde naval base on July 20, as part of the submarine’s routine deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in Naples.
While at the base, the fast-attack submarine will conduct routine maintenance and replenish essential supplies.
Captain Doug Settler said crew members are “incredibly grateful for the outstanding support, services, and hospitality ” at Faslane.
He added: “The special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is built on a foundation of shared values, mutual trust, and a unified commitment to maritime security.
“Our enduring partnership with the Royal Navy is critical to maintaining peace and stability in this region.”
The Oregon will be taking part in objectives to advance U.S. national interests, security and stability in Europe and Africa.
