Police are continuing their search for a woman who has gone missing from a psychiatric hospital in Irvine.
Anne MacDonald failed to return to her ward at Woodland View hospital after being given “unescorted time within the facility” on Monday.
The 54-year-old’s family have launched a frantic search to find the much-loved mum who hasn’t been heard from since her disappearance.
Anne was last seen in the Kilwinning Road area around 12.30pm on Monday, June 3.
She is described as white, around 5ft 5in tall, of medium build, with long black hair with purple ends.
When last seen, she was wearing a long-sleeved, blue denim dress with buttons down the centre.
Police say they are becoming “increasingly concerned” for her welfare.
Sergeant Catriona Eaglesham, Irvine Police Office, said: “This is out of character for Anne to be missing and we’re urgently trying to trace her.
“I’m appealing to anyone who has information on Anne’s whereabouts or who thinks they may have seen her since Monday morning to get in touch.
“Anne, if you see this appeal, please contact police so we can make sure you’re safe and well.”
Caroline Cameron, director of North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, added: “We can confirm we have concern for a person who has failed to return to the ward from agreed unescorted time within the Woodland View facility.
“We are working with Police Scotland in order to ascertain this person’s wellbeing and return them safely to the facility.
“NHS Ayrshire & Arran has a duty to protect patient confidentiality and therefore, we are unable to provide further comment.”
Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2423 of June 3, 2024.
