Two male youths have been charged after being stopped by police riding the wrong way down a motorway slip road.

Police said 12-year-old males wearing balaclavas were spotted by patrol officers on the M8 slip road at Hillington on Tuesday.

Officers subsequently stopped the pair, took them home, and charged them with road traffic offences.

The e-scooter was also seized.

In addition, one of the parents was also charged with offences under the Road Traffic Act.

Police Scotland has said riding a privately-owned e-scooter on public roads, pavements, and cycle paths in Scotland is illegal.

Officers have the power to immediately seize and dispose of an e-scooter as well as issue £300 fines and up to six penalty points.
