Two women in hospital as M8 closed after crash with 'barriers damaged'

Two women have been taken to hospital as the M8 remains closed following a crash.

Emergency services say the motorway is closed westbound at junction 27 near the White Cart Viaduct in Paisley after a one-car crash around 8.40pm on Thursday.

Two women have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

Renfrew Road is also closed between Abbotsinch Retail Park roundabout and Arkleston Road roundabout due to associated damage to the barriers.

A Police statement read: “Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.

“Road users are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.”
