Motorists face 60-mile diversion following two-vehicle crash

A major road in Argyll and Bute has been closed to traffic following a collision involving two vehicles.

Police were called to the road bridge on the A83 near Inveraray around 1.25pm on Wednesday afternoon following reports of a crash.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the road has been closed, causing major diversions for motorists.

The condition of those involved in the crash is currently unknown.

Traffic Scotland said motorists face an almost 60-mile diversion in both directions due to the closure.

Drivers coming from the west have been diverted back to Tarbet to take the A82 to Tyndrum, then the A85 to Dalmally and onto the A819 to Inveraray.

Meanwhile drivers heading east have been urged to follow the route in reverse to reach the A83 at Tarbet.
