Two teenagers have been seriously injured in an assault in Paisley town centre.

The teens, aged 18 and 19, were rushed to the Royal Alexandria Hospital after police were called to a disturbance on Causeyside Street.

Police are now appealing to trace three men in connection with the incident which occurred around 1.50am on Sunday on the road near the junction with New Street.

Descriptions for the men have been issued to the public.

The first is a white male, between 23-27 years old with dark-coloured hair and wearing black clothing.

The second is a black male aged also between 23-27 years old. He was wearing black clothing and white trainers.

A third male is described as wearing a dark-coloured tracksuit.

Detective Constable Paul Fanning said: “Our investigation is continuing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this disturbance to contact us.

“A blue Skoda car – possibly a taxi – stopped at the scene during the incident. We are working to trace the driver of that car as they may hold information that will assist our enquiry.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 with reference number 2012 of November 14. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
