Two taken to hospital after jumping from window to escape flat blaze

Two people have been taken to hospital after jumping from a window to escape a blaze in East Kilbride.

Police and fire and rescue services were called to Denholm Green at around 2.10pm on Sunday after receiving reports of a fire at a flat.

Emergency services took two people to Wishaw General Hospital after they jumped from a window.

Thier current condition is unknown.

Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the cause of the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.10pm on Sunday, November 6, 2022, police received a report of a fire at a building in Denholm Green, East Kilbride.

“Emergency services attended and two people have been taken to Wishaw General Hospital after jumping from a flat.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service have been contacted for comment.
