Two streets in Ayrshire have been evacuated after a potentially explosive device was found.
Titchfield Street and Orchard Street in Galston were closed for nearly four hours as the “possible historical ordnance” item was assessed.
Police and explosive experts attended the scene at around 1.10pm on Friday with the streets closed a short time later.
A cordon was then set up as a police investigation got underway.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Titchfield Street and Orchard Street in Galston are currently closed following the discovery of what is a possible historical ordnance item.
“Police were alerted at around 1.10pm today, Friday 5 November 2021, and a cordon has been established while the item is assessed.”
Officers later confirmed that the operation was stood down and streets reopened at around 5pm.
