Two police officers are among four people in hospital after a crash involving three cars closed the M8 eastbound in Glasgow.
Emergency services were called to Junction 13 Provan Interchange of the motorway after 1.10pm on Wednesday with the major road closed heading east for drivers.
Two on-duty officers were involved in the crash with another two people injured as a result of a three-car collision.
The casualties were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
The Scottish Ambulance Service said it sent three ambulances, trauma and special operations teams and two rapid response units including a critical care paramedic to the scene.
Officers said diversions remain in place and drivers are continued to be advised to avoid the area.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call today at 1.12pm to attend a road traffic collision on the M8.
“We dispatched two rapid response units, a critical care paramedic, three ambulances, our trauma team and our special operations team.
“We transported two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and two patents to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
