Two people were taken to hospital after a three car crash in Lanarkshire.

Police were called to the A71, near Newmains, at around 8.35pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of a three car crash.

Emergency services took two people to hospital. Their current condition is unknown.

The road was closed for around seven hours and reopened at around 2.25am on Thursday.

A Police Scotland source told us: “Officers were called to a three-vehicle road traffic crash which happened on the A71 near Newmains at around 8.35pm on Wednesday, February 22.

“Emergency services attended and two people were taken to hospital by ambulance.

“The road was closed and re-opened at around 2.25am on Thursday.

“Enquiries remain ongoing into the crash.”
