Two men were threatened with a hammer during an attempted robbery on a street in Glasgow.

The incident took place on London Road, in the Bridgeton Cross area of the city, at around 3.35am on Wednesday, June 28.

A man armed with a claw hammer, aged between 20 to 30 years old, approached two men and demanded money and a mobile phone.

No injuries were reported and nothing was stolen after the two men managed to make off on foot.

Officers have launched an appeal for witnesses as they attempt to trace the man responsible.

He is described as white, spoke with a Glasgow accent, and was wearing a black jacket with white or reflective trim, a black hat or balaclava, light coloured jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Constable Ross Gallacher said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information or who may have seen or heard a disturbance to get in touch.
