Two men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being assaulted by a gang in West Dunbartonshire.
The victims, aged 25 and 27, were targeted by a group of men on a canal path near Beardmore Place in Clydebank.
The attack took place around 12.04am on Monday.
Both men sustained serious injuries and required treatment following the incident.
The 25-year-old victim was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.
The other victim, 27, was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment, where he is also in stable condition.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses in a bid to trace the attackers.
Detective sergeant Kirsteen McDaid, of Clydebank CID, said: “Two men were seriously injured and we are asking anyone who may have seen what happened or has information about those responsible to get in touch.
“In addition, anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dash-cam that could help with our enquiries is asked to let us know.
“If you can assist officers then please call us on 101, quoting incident number 0018 of Monday, June 6, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
