Two men have appeared in court in connection with a ‘£289,000 drugs bust’ in North Lanarkshire.
Police said they stopped a car in Overtown’s Main Street at around 3.10pm on Wednesday and seized £63,000 in cash.
Officers later raided a property in Coltness’ Greenlaw Avenue, Wishaw, and reportedly recovered around 1kg of cocaine, 22kg of herbal cannabis and 26,200 diazepam tablets.
Police said the drugs had a street value of around £289,000.
Two men, aged 27 and 35, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday in connection with the incident.
Sergeant John Watson said: “This was a significant recovery and as a result thousands of pounds worth of drugs are off the streets.
“I want to reassure the public that Police Scotland will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to disrupt the activities of those involved in serious organised crime.
“Serious organised crime and drugs misuse brings nothing but misery to our local communities.”
