Two men charged after police officer 'hit by car' while on patrol

Two men have been charged after an on-duty police officer was struck by a car in Hamilton.

The 33-year-old officer was seriously injured and remains in hospital following the incident on August 30.

Police approached a vehicle on Low Waters Road around 1pm while on patrol in the area.

The driver then made off and was involved in a collision with one of the officers.

Two men, aged 30 and 56, have now been arrested and charged in connection and are due to appear before Hamilton Sheriff Court on September 4.
