Two men have been arrested and charged after cannabis worth more than £360,000 was seized in Dumfries and Galloway.

Officers raided a property on Victoria Street in Newton Stewart around 11am on Tuesday and discovered more than 600 cannabis plants, worth a street value of £368,400.

Two men, aged 37 and 22, are due to appear at Stranraer Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Police say further enquiries remain ongoing.

Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson said: “This was a significant recovery which highlights our commitment to tackling the supply and distribution of illegal substances on our streets.

“We will continue to take proactive action to remove drugs from our communities.

“Intelligence from the public is vital. If you have any information about drugs, please bring it to the attention of police. We will fully investigate and take the appropriate action.”
