Two men have been arrested after the bomb squad evacuated a marina in Largs.

Emergency services were alerted after an item was found on a boat at Largs Yacht Haven at around 3.30pm on Sunday.

Police evacuated the premises and locked the area down as a precaution.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team deemed the item “not viable” and there were no reports of any injuries.

Officers confirmed that two men, aged 40 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Inspector Barry Walker said: “At around 3.30pm on Sunday, September 11, we were called to Largs Yacht Haven, Irvine Road, Largs, to a report of an item found on a boat.

“EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) were contacted and the area was evacuated as a precaution.

“The item was deemed not viable and there were no reports of anyone injured.

“Two men aged 40 and 23 have been arrested in connection with a Breach of the Peace.”
