Two masked men on e-scooter throw traffic cone at rough sleeper

The incident took place on Glassford Street in Glasgow city centre at around 2am.

Two masked men on an e-scooter have been caught on camera throwing a traffic cone at a rough sleeper in Glasgow.

The incident took place on Glassford Street in the city centre at around 2am on Thursday.

In a video posted by Homeless Project Scotland, two individuals wearing face coverings can be seen slowly riding on the e-scooter along a row of single tents, which are used by rough sleepers.

The male at the rear of the vehicle is holding a traffic cone. He then throws it at a tent, and they speed away from the scene.

Founder of the charity, Colin McInnes, believes more emergency accommodation needs to be available to ensure no one is forced to sleep on the street.

He told STV News: “When people are left outside, they become vulnerable to abuse, intimidation and violence. The recent incident where a traffic cone was thrown at a homeless person’s tent while they were trying to sleep highlights the risks people face every single night.

“The solution is straightforward. Glasgow City Council must ensure that the city’s most vulnerable people are provided with emergency accommodation when they present as homeless. No one should be left to sleep on the streets when this can be prevented.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
