Two men have been arrested in connection with a video allegedly showing racist chants being sung about a Celtic football player.
The clip, understood to have been recorded on a supporters’ bus, was widely shared on social media.
The men, a 30-year-old and a 26-year-old, have been charged in relation with an alleged hate crime directed towards Japan international Kyogo Furuhashi.
The video was reported to Police on Monday, August 23, following which Rangers announced it had banned those allegedly involved from all matches “indefinitely”.
The two men have been released on an undertaking and are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said a full report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The force spokesperson said: “Enquiries are continuing to identify others involved and anyone with information is asked to get in touch with Police Scotland via 101, or by making a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
