A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the double robbery of a pensioner in his own home.

An 84-year-old man was targeted twice within his flat in May Gardens, Hamilton.

The first robbery took place on Sunday, September 27, with the second the following day.

On Tuesday, Police Scotland confirmed a 50-year-old woman and 51-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incidents and were due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Detective sergeant Kevin Clark, from Lanarkshire CID, said: “I’d like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation, allowing us to bring some peace of mind to the victim.”
