Two boys, 13, charged after police chase stolen DPD van in town 'joyride'

Two 13-year-old boys have been charged after police chased a stolen DPD van through a town in South Lanarkshire.

Officers received a report of a van theft being driven through Cambuslang around 9.30am on Monday.

The vehicle, the driver and a passenger were traced in the Elder Drive area a short time after, police said.

Two boys, both aged 13, were arrested and charged in connection and will be reported to the relevant authorities.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Monday, August 11, 2025 we received a report of a stolen van being driven in the Cambuslang area.

“The vehicle, the driver and a passenger were traced in Elder Drive, Cambuslang, a short time later.

“Two boys, both aged 13, were arrested and charged in connection and will be reported to the relevant authorities.”
