Drugs worth around £300,000 have been seized after two cars were stopped in Dumfries and Galloway.

Police stopped a grey Toyota Avensis at around 11.10am on Saturday on the A74 (M) northbound near junction 15 at Moffat.

They discovered drugs in the car, believed to be cannabis, with a maximum street value of £200,000.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the incident and appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday, when he was remanded in custody.

The second incident involved a grey Ford Focus which was stopped at around 12.50pm on Monday on the A74 (M) near junction 16 at Johnstonebridge.

Drugs, also believed to be cannabis, were recovered with a maximum street value of £100,000.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged. He was remanded in custody following a court appearance on Tuesday.
