Tributes have been paid to a “dearly missed” dad who died in hospital following an attack in Irvine.
Malcolm McCandlish was taken to hospital after being assaulted on Irvine High Street around 6pm on September 24.
The 43-year-old succumbed to his injuries on October 14.
In the days following his death, Mr McCandlish’s family launched a fundraiser to cover the costs of his funeral and give him the “send-off he deserves”.
His father, Malcolm McCandlish Snr, posted in the fundraiser: “Due to the sudden nature of Malcolm’s passing, the family is unfortunately financially unprepared for the funeral costs.
“The family would like to ask that if you knew Malcolm, if you’d consider donating towards the costs to make sure he gets the send off he deserves. The family would be grateful for any donation whatsoever.
“Malcolm leaves behind a loving mother, father and sister, a devoted son and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all his family.”
Two men have since been charged and appeared in court in connection with Mr McCandlish’s death.
On Wednesday, Simon Roberts appeared in court charged with threatening or abusive behaviour, attempted murder and assault to injury.
The 36-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear again in court within eight days.
Sean McKie, also 36, appeared in court on October 9 in connection with the incident.
He was charged with threatening or abusive behaviour, attempted murder, assault to injury and two more counts of assault.
