Trains have been cancelled after a vehicle struck a bridge in Inverclyde for the second time in a week.
Network Rail confirmed crews have closed the line at Cartsdyke in Greenock after a heavy goods vehicle struck the railway bridge.
Passengers travelling from Glasgow Central to Gourock via Bogston and Cartsdyke stations are facing disruption.
On June 22, the line was also closed after a vehicle struck the same bridge.
Network Rail said: “The line has been closed to allow us to check the bridge for damage.
“We’re working with ScotRail to manage train services during this incident.”
“Our engineers are en route to the bridge and are due to arrive around 2.50pm. Once they arrive on site, they’ll inspect the structure for any damage before we can reopen the line,” the operator added.
ScotRail added: “The bridge is a structure that requires to be examined by our staff before services can pass over the bridge again.”
