Train services suffered disruption on Tuesday morning after a man was found dead on the tracks in North Lanarkshire.
Emergency services attended the scene at Coatdyke station in Coatbridge at 5.39am and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several rail services between Blairhill and Airdrie were cancelled or delayed at 7am as a result of the incident, but services have now returned to normal.
The British Transport Police have said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A BTP spokeswoman said: “British Transport Police were called to Coatdyke station at 5.39am this morning (April 5) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and establish the full circumstances behind their death.”
