Services between Glasgow and Edinburgh faced disruption after a person was killed after being struck by a train.
The incident occurred between Croy and Falkirk High/Larbert at around 9.35pm on Wednesday, Network Rail confirmed.
Services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High as well as services between Edinburgh and Dunblane were affected.
A statement from Network Rail on Thursday night said: “A person has been hit by a train between Croy and Falkirk High/Larbert.
“Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
“We anticipate disruption will continue until the end of the day.”
A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Falkirk at around 21.18pm yesterday (3 April) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.”
