Train services were left disrupted after a lorry struck a railway bridge in West Dunbartonshire.
Network Rail apologised to passengers who were affected after the operator confirmed specialist engineers had been deployed to the scene on Kilbowie Road, Clydebank, on Wednesday afternoon.
Photos from the scene showed a large HGV stuck under the bridge after the back of the vehicle collided with the structure.
It is not the first time a lorry has struck the bridge at Kilbowie Road – emergency services have been called to the scene previously.
This includes February 1, 2023, when a truck attempted to pass under the bridge before colliding with it, and April 25, 2022, when a lorry struck the structure.
“The bridge will need to be checked by specialist engineers although train services can still pass over the bridge albeit at a reduced speed,” Network Rail said.
An hour later, the operator posted an update that read: “The bridge has been checked and trains can now resume at normal line speeds.
“We’re sorry if you were delayed as a consequence of this bridge strike, and thank you for your understanding.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
