Woman taken to hospital after car blocks rail tracks

A woman has been taken to hospital after a car crashed onto railway tracks near Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Milngavie Road in Bearsden around 10.45am on Thursday morning.

Police said a female passenger was taken to hospital for treatment.

ScotRail said the tracks were blocked between Hillfoot and Milngavie stations following the crash.

Services between Springburn and Milngavie have been impacted by the incident.

The rail operator said services on the route will terminate at Partick and start at Hyndland.

Network Rail says the line will not reopen until the vehicle is recovered and the track is inspected for any potential damage.

They say they will also need to repair the boundary.
