A trailer containing £66,000 worth of alcohol was stolen from a compound in South Lanarkshire.

Police are investigating the incident which took place on Cambuslang Road in Cambuslang at 9.45pm on Saturday night.

Officers believe two men entered the premises with an HGV, connected the trailer and escaped towards Cambuslang Road.

One suspect is described as being of slim build, average height, and was wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers, white trainers, dark face/head covering and dark gloves.

The other man involved is described as being of medium build, short in height, and was wearing blue jeans, dark trainers or boots, an orange hi-vis jacket, blue sleeves underneath, striped beanie-style hat and black gloves.

Detective inspector Stuart Gillies, of Glasgow CID, said: “Two men were seen to enter the compound with an HGV and connect the trailer. They then left the scene heading along Cambuslang Road.

“Those responsible will be looking to sell on the alcohol. If you are offered alcohol at a discounted price, you would be wise to suspect it has been stolen. It is a criminal offence to buy stolen goods.

“Anyone who knows who was responsible should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1168 of January 23, 2022.”
