Plans for two timber glamping pods in the garden ground of a Dunoon house have been given the go-ahead by council chiefs.
Bruce Lauder’s application for the Beach House, on Shore Road at Innellan, has been considered by Argyll and Bute Council officials since October.
However, it was not the subject of any representations, positive or negative, from the public and the authority has now granted planning permission.
Planning agent Glampitect said in a statement that the two units would be five metres apart to give guests privacy and control sound.
The statement, reproduced in a handling report, said: “An existing entrance will guide guests along an existing permeable track to their accommodation. There is sufficient space to allow cars to safely enter/exit the site via the existing entrance.
“Visibility and access are good in both directions on the A815, where the entrance will lie perpendicular to. Once guests enter the site, a short existing track will lead guests to the improved parking and turning area.
“In total, three parking spaces will be available within the site, all of which comply with the current parking bay regulations. One of the parking spaces will provide guests with an EV charging point.
“Guests will park within the designated area to the front of the units. One low-level LED lighting bollard will be provided for safety when walking at night.
“Low-level sensor lighting is proposed to minimise effects on local wildlife and to avoid any light pollution to the surrounding area.
“All boundaries will remain unchanged. The site will be well-screened from neighbouring residences and the public road by existing trees and shrubbery to be retained.
“The units will have a small area of patio to the front and side for guests to enjoy their surroundings. Willow fencing will be used to provide guests with privacy from one another.”
