Three tower blocks in Motherwell have been demolished in a single controlled explosion.
Crowds gathered in the North Lanarkshire town on Sunday to see the iconic Allan, Coursington, and Draffen Towers brought to the ground.
The decision was taken by North Lanarkshire Council to demolish the three tower blocks earlier this year.
Built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the three 20-storey blocks have stood between Dalziel Street and Wilson Street for more than 50 years.
Together they provided more than 350 homes, but after lying empty, the decision was taken to destroy the flats as part of the council’s tower reprovisioning programme.
