Three people were taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in water at Loch Lomond.

Emergency services were called after receiving reports of four people struggling in the water at Millarochay Bay, near Balmaha, at around 3.10pm on Wednesday.

Two water rescue units from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service successfully rescued the four casualties.

Three people were taken to hospital as a “precaution” and one person was checked by the Ambulance Service at the scene.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 3.10pm on Wednesday, 19 April, 2023, we were called to reports of people in the water at Loch Lomond, near Balmaha.

“Emergency services attended and three people were taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service as a precaution. A fourth person was checked by the Ambulance Service at the scene.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.23pm on Wednesday, April 19, to reports of persons in need of assistance within a body of water close to Balmaha, Loch Lomond.

“Operations control mobilised two fire appliances and two water rescue units to the scene, where firefighters worked to support their partners.

“Firefighters thereafter left the scene.”
