Three people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a barrier between junctions on the M8.

Emergency services were called to the barrier between the Junction 24 off-slip and Junction 24 on-slip at around 7.15pm on Wednesday evening after a grey Skoda Octavia travelling westbound lost control and crashed.

The 21-year-old male driver and two female passengers, both aged 22, were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

A 26-year-old man, also a passenger, was assessed at the scene.

The road was closed until 2.16am on Thursday. Officers are continuing to appeal for information.

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our enquiries into the collision are ongoing and I am appealing to motorists who were driving on the M8 around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

“If you have dash cam equipment, please pass on your footage as it could assist us in our enquiries.”
