Three men have appeared in court after a stolen vehicle and an unmarked police car were involved in a collision.

A police officer and three men were injured in the crash, which occurred on July 1 in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire.

The BMW vehicle was stolen around 6.35am earlier that same day, from Gilmour Street in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire.

The three men were later arrested, and have now appeared in court charged with various offences.

Shaun Crotty, 20, and Liam Watt, 28, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of theft by housebreaking.

They were also charged under section 178 (1)(B) of the Road Traffic Act 1998, which alleges that they took a vehicle and drove it, or were passengers while it was being driven, without the owner’s permission.

Watt and Crotty both made no plea and have been committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Cameron Ferguson, 32, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of theft by housebreaking.

Additionally, he was charged under sections 2, 87(1), 143(1) and (2), and 6(1) (2) (6) of the Road Traffic Act 1998.

These allege that he was driving dangerously without a license or insurance, and was under the influence of drugs or alcohol while doing so.

He made no plea, has been committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

All three men are scheduled to appear in court within the next eight days.
