A shopkeeper had to be taken to hospital after being attacked by three girls in Dumbarton.

Emergency services were called to the Morrison’s Daily store on Glasgow Road at around 4.20pm following reports of a disturbance.

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment after the incident.

Police have charged three female youths in connection.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20pm on Thursday, February 5, we received a report of a disturbance at a shop on Glasgow Road, Dumbarton.

“The shopkeeper, a 29-year-old man, was assaulted and required hospital treatment.

“Three female youths have been charged in connection, and a report will be sent to the relevant authorities.”

Morrison’s has been contacted for comment.
