GoFundMeA singer in a Glasgow band has had a cyst on his vocal cord removed after £7,500 was raised to help pay for his surgery.
Phil Campbell, lead singer of blues rock band The Temperance Movement, went under the knife last week to have a cyst removed from his right vocal cord.
The Glasgow musician says he had been experiencing difficulties with his voice and had to use steroids to enable him to perform.
He launched a fundraiser to help pay for surgery after doctors advised him the cyst needed to be surgically removed as soon as possible.
This was to restore vocal function and rule out any risk of cancer, with NHS waiting times for the operation said to be up to a year.
He was initially due to have the operation in January, but was able to have it removed late last month.
Mr Campbell said his voice should return to normal by spring next year, which will allow him to work again and play summer festivals with the band.
The musician said the support he had received had “blown his mind” after more than £7,500 was raised.
