A third man has been charged in connection with an alleged murder outside a primary school in Greenock.

Michael Beaton was found seriously injured on Drumfrochar Road near St Patrick’s Primary at around 7.20pm on Sunday, November 26.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died a few hours later.

On Friday, April 5, police confirmed a 19-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the death.

The teenager is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday.

It comes after two men were charged in connection with the incident.

Lewis Wiggins, 22, of Greenock, was charged with murder, attempted murder and an attempt to defeat the ends of justice.

Alexander Paul McQuillan appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court in December charged with murder and theft.

The 25-year-old made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Detectives previously said they believed Mr Beaton had been knocked down by a car and attacked with a bladed weapon.
