Thieves have stolen a “significant” amount of cash and caused “severe” damage to an iconic pub in Glasgow, the owners have said.
The Clutha Bar in the city’s Trongate area was targeted in a break-in late on Friday night, with staff left “devastated” upon discovering the damage on Saturday.
Images shared on social media showed a door at the rear of the pub smashed in. A replacement was later installed on Saturday afternoon.
The bar’s owners say some of the “significant” amount of money stolen was intended for charity.
The pub and restaurant was able to reopen on Saturday afternoon.
The Clutha was destroyed in November 2013 after a police helicopter crashed through the roof, killing ten people.
The pub was later rebuilt and The Clutha Trust was formed, which supports local causes.
Police Scotland confirmed enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A spokesperson said: “Around 2pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025, we received a report of a break-in and theft from a premises on Stockwell Street, Glasgow.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
