Police appeal after thief wearing high-vis jacket raids shop

Police are appealing for information after a thief robbed a shop in Ayrshire.

A man stole a small sum of money from the store on MacPhail Drive in Kilmarnock at around 9.15pm on Sunday night.

The man entered the premises and threatened staff, before leaving on foot in the direction of New Farm Loch.

He is described having his face covered and was wearing a knee-length high-vis jacket, grey jogging trousers, and black trainers.

No one was injured in the incident.

Detective constable Allan Auld, from Kilmarnock CID, said: “Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident and extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify the man responsible.

“I would urge anyone who saw an individual matching this description on Sunday night in the area to come forward.

“I would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area.

“Anyone with information which may assist our investigation, no matter how small, should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3553 of Sunday, 27 February, 2022.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
