A thief who told a cyclist he would stab him if he didn’t hand over his bike has been tagged.

James McKee demanded Jordyn Cunningham give him his bike near Celtic Park’s main entrance in Glasgow on April 14 this year.

The 20-year-old had initially chatted about the football team to Mr Cunningham before showing his waistband.

McKee stated: “Listen, you get off your bike or you’re getting stabbed.”

McKee pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assault and robbery.

Sheriff Andrew Cubie put McKee under supervision for 18 months.

McKee was also tagged for nine months, keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

An earlier hearing was told Mr Cunningham and a friend were cycling towards Celtic Park.

Prosecutor Laura Bradley said: “They were approached by McKee outside the main entrance.

“He started talking about Celtic with them.

“McKee asked if he could buy his bike and Mr Cunningham said no.”

McKee then made the threat to get off the bike.

Ms Bradley said: “He made a motion to pull up his jumper to the waistband area.

He said ‘Get off your f*****g bike or I will stab you’.”

Mr Cunningham got off the bike before McKee took it and raced off towards the Forge Shopping Centre.

A 999 call was made and McKee was traced and arrested.

The bike was recovered by Mr Cunningham who received an anonymous message on social media.
