A man threatened a staff member with a weapon during a robbery at a service station in North Ayrshire.

At around 11.45pm on Monday, the man entered Ardeer Service Station in Stevenston with his face covered and threatened the staff member with a weapon while demanding money.

He then fled on Glencairn Street with a two-figure sum of cash.

Police have described the suspect as being of heavy build and was wearing a snood or similar to cover his face, a black beanie hat and a navy blue jacket. 

Detective constable Bryn Meehan said: “Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident but the staff member was left understandably shaken. 

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with any information, including anyone else who was in the garage at the time to contact us. 

“I would also appeal to anyone who saw a man matching the description above in the area to get in touch.”
