The body of a teenager has been pulled from a river in Dumfries following a search operation on Thursday night.

Emergency services were alerted to a person in the River Nith near the Kingholm Road area at around 6.50pm.

A search of the water was carried out, and an 18-year-old man’s body was recovered.

Detectives are not treating the death as suspicious. A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Thursday, April 30, we received a report of a person in the River Nith in the Kingholm Road area of Dumfries.

“Emergency services carried out searches and the body of an 18-year-old man was recovered.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
