A teenager who died after his car careered off the road in Glasgow has been named.

Jay Morrison, from Barrhead, was driving a red Vauxhall Corsa on Nitshill Road when he crashed near the junction with Levern Bridge Road at around 11.35pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended and the 19-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to his injuries.

But medical staff were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead in the early hours of Saturday.

Police confirmed his identity on Thursday and have appealed for information regarding the incident.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of Police Scotland’s Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Morrison at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.”
