A teenager has been taken to hospital following a “serious” assault in South Lanarkshire.

Officers were alerted to the incident which happened around 8.20pm on Saturday in the Murray Road area of town.

Police confirmed that a 19-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The nature of the 19-year-old’s injuries have not yet been disclosed.

The force is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

Detective sergeant Jim Williamson said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3907 of Saturday, June 1, 2024, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
