Officers are hunting for a gang of youths after a teenager was injured in an attack at a Glasgow shopping centre.

Emergency services were alerted to a disturbance at St Enoch Centre around 3.30pm on Friday afternoon.

Video footage shared on social media showed a group of youths pushing people to the ground, with one person repeatedly struck in the face.

Security staff arrived in the area and police were called.

STV News understands that a cordon was put up around an area on the ground floor of the shopping centre.

A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident, and police said they are following a positive line of enquiry.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An investigation is under way after police received a report of a disturbance involving a number of males in the St Enoch Centre, Glasgow. A 19-year-old male was taken to hospital.

“Officers have been reviewing CCTV images and enquiries are ongoing to locate and identify those involved. Police are following a positive line of inquiry.”
