A teenager from Dumfries has been recognised after rescuing a child he saw walking across a busy roundabout.
Nicholas Podsedkowski immediately rushed to help the child after he noticed the toddler in danger near his school in September.
The 16-year-old brought the child to safety, then stopped a passing car and asked for them both to be taken to the nearest police station.
Shortly after, the child’s parent flagged down a passing police car looking for their missing son. Officers reassured him his son was safe and they were reunited shorly after.
Mr Podsedkowski was presented with a Local Police Commander Recognition Certificate on Thursday by Chief superintendent Meikle.
“I was pleased to meet with Nicholas and his family today and thank him personally for his actions. Well done Nicholas,” Mr Meikle said.
