A teenager has been arrested and charged after a Glasgow taxi driver’s car was stolen at knife-point and crashed into a tree.

The cab driver was threatened with a knife after two males flagged him down in Langbar Crescent, in Easterhouse, at around 11.35pm on Thursday.

The carjackers then made off in the blue Skoda, which was later found abandoned after crashing into a tree near to St Luke’s Avenue in Carluke.

A second car was reported stolen from outside a property in Lanark Road in Carluke, in the early hours of Friday morning.

The black Mercedes EQB was later found abandoned in Hallhill Road, Barlanark.

The incidents are treated as being linked, police said,

A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with the incidents. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Enquiries remain ongoing to trace a second male.
