A teenager has been charged after a man was taken to hospital following an attack in Greenock.
Emergency services were called to Inverkip Street on Sunday afternoon around 2.35pm after they received reports of an attack.
A 49-year-old man was transported to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley following the incident for treatment.
Officers have apprehended a 16-year-old boy in connection with the alleged assault. The teen has been charged and is due to appear in court at a later date.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of a serious assault in the Inverkip Street area of Greenock around 2.35pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
“Emergency services attended and a 49-year-old man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
“A 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at court at a later date.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
