A teenager is in hospital after a crash between a car and a pedestrian on Tuesday morning in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the serious crash on Woodside Street at the junction with Viewfield Road in Coatbridge at around 7.45am on October 31.

The crash involved the 19-year-old female pedestrian and a white Kia Stonic car.The woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment where her condition is described as serious but stable.

No one else was injured. The road was closed for four hours and re-opened around 11.45am.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone in the area at the time of the crash.

“In addition, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please get in touch.”
