Teenage girl injured in crash as city hit by snow storm

A teenage girl has been left injured following a crash in Glasgow as the city was hit by a heavy snow storm.

The one-vehicle collision took place in the Kingsland Drive area of Cardonald on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9am when the incident was reported.

The girl was taken to the nearby Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance where she is being treated for her injuries.

Police were also in attendance and the road was closed for a short time afterwards as they carried out investigations.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9.05am on Thursday, February 24, to a report of a one-vehicle crash on Kingsland Drive, Glasgow.

“A teenage girl was injured as a result of the crash and has been taken to hospital for treatment.”

Most of the country experienced heavy snowfall during the night and throughout Thursday morning, making difficult driving conditions for drivers.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place until 9am on Friday.
